MOVE INDY is proud to partner with Family Promise of Hendricks County and strives to support them in bringing their vision to life!  Family Promise works tirelessly to ensure everyone in our community has a home they can afford and the opportunity for economic stability.  Their mission is to transform the lives of those struggling in Hendricks County by providing emergency and permanent housing, homelessness prevention and stability services. 

The Family Promise Advocates provide an array of services and support to the families they help.  By providing food, shelter, childcare, access to computers/phones, living-wage job placement, transportation and so much more, this wonderful organization is doing so much in our community to help prevent & end homelessness. 

​In 2022 alone, Family Promise ended homelessness for 125 families and helped prevent homelessness for an additional 895 families in Hendricks County!

Move Indy’s partnership with Family Promise of Hendricks County began in January of 2021.  We were coming off the heels of “Hunker Down Hoosiers” and our success in raising money via t-shirt sales to buy meals from local restaurants and donate them to local healthcare workers and firehouse staff.  It was a way for us to keep from sitting idly by while the nation processed the devastation from COVID. I loved being able to positively help our community; I wanted to do more, and thus the partnership with Family Promise was born. ​

I reached out to the then Program Director, Linzy Bradley, and asked how we could be of service to them. I wanted myself and our crews to be able to continue to give back to the community we serve.  We could help move families into their new housing.  We could also offer our customers the ability to donate unwanted or unused furniture to Family Promise (at no charge).  We could store items at our warehouse; once a certain level of inventory was obtained we could then deliver to a family designated by Family Promise.  ​

I am a doer.  So finding a charity to write a check to every month just wasn't the direction I wanted to go.  I want myself and our crews to experience what it is like to help people first-hand; to see the look on the families faces as you carry their "new" furniture into their new home. I felt it was the perfect fit for what Move Indy was all about.  We solve problems. We give back to the community that has given us so much.  We also become the connecting piece for people all over Central Indiana to help their neighbors in need.  Everyone wins with this partnership.

How YOU can help!

Family Promise currently has a great need for specific furniture items (see the list below). If you have any items you would like to donate, please reach out to Move Indy.  We will pick up your donation (for free!) and deliver it to Family Promise.  We will handle all the logistics and coordination. We are also happy to work with our current and future moving customers to help arrange donations as part of your move!  Were you a little late on your spring-cleaning this year?  No problem!  Donate those items to Family Promise and let Move Indy handle the logistics. 

This is  an amazing way for people in Hendricks County to help those in need, right in our own backyard!
